Smug

I got an eightyfouuuuuuuurrrr.
I got an eightyfouuuuurr!
I got an eightyfouuuuur.
Ahahahaa!

I even beat Bo Flex, this wise-guy, know-it-all in my class!
I'm feelin' good!

I still have a bunch of assignments, so hopefully it will go up some.
But, I am still very pleased!

I know this post is very immature, but I'm not too worried about it.
I'm delirious, sorry.
:)

love you all!

p.s I really miss SNL.

Day, what? 8000?

I'm sorry the last post was about legless birds.
I found out from a reliable source that this content wasn't quite
as satisfying as you expected.

School is going really good.
However, it's almost impossible to focus. Impossible.
I got an 80% on my essay, a 76% on some thingy, and an 88% on our first test.
So, it's going pretty well, but I don't think I did very well on my ISU.
I tried to do an "unplugged" presentation...We'll see how that was taken.

The legless birds may or may not have left. I still see them around, but only at certain points in the week and time of day.

To all my girls who are looking for more detailed stories of the kids here, ask Amanda Filbey to send you the email I sent her. It's a long detailed retelling of the beach, and some nights out, etc. :)

I've been to the beach twice now. One is a rock beach, which is okay. It just hurts a little. The other is a busy sand beach with a little bar, and a really nice view of a docking harbor, and a cliff/wall/ forest thingy. (I know. I sounds oh so sophisticated, right?) I'm surprisingly not that tanned. disappointing, but I'm really not worried about it. Too distracted!

We went to this war memorial for Canadian Vets. It was this little cemetery filled with these gorgeous ivory tomb stones lined up perfectly, just like in those movies. There was a boy there who was only sixteen. It felt good to be there.

We started the rehearsals for the play our class is putting on. My teacher, Mrs Irons-Murray, wrote it. This lady is so funny! Holy moses, she just says the smallest things about the most irrelevant topics that I find hilarious. So, of course I'm the only one who laughs. Whatever, still my favourite. This may be very inappropriate to say on here, depending on who's reading this, but I gatta. This woman is older but she's still so...femininely charged. It makes me laugh because she isn't shy about the history of that aspect of society. And, I repeat, this is not a young woman. She even told us about this one play back in classical civilization where...well, gram, gramps, I'll spare ya. If anyone wants a laugh, msg me. I'll tell you. And, you'll laugh. ANYWAY, we started the play about women in Athens, and Euripides. I'm woman number 8, the psycho biatch. I'll make it rock. No worries.

FLORENCE:

Me and Alanna had gone grocery shopping the night before so we were all set for the trip. The bus left at 5:30. Everyone slept...Except us two. We were up and laughing for four hours before people were even stirring. We ate so much food. Seriously. Me and my friends here have finished three full jars of nutella. I'm talking epic amounts.
After six hours on the bus, we had a walking tour of Florence. It's beautiful there. I'm bummed that I can't communicate this whole experience to you guys. Maybe I could, but there's no time! That said (again), there were fantastic sculptures everywhere.
Literally everywhere! Choose a random street corner, and there's a fabulous piece of art work.

The next morning we went to the Uffizi (spelling? sorry). Ouuuuuuuuuu, it was fantastic. I'm telling you. I've never seen so many beautiful paintings, and sculptures in one building before. Also, since i did my ISU on ancient greek art, and we had been studying art in class, I was making all these connections, and recognizing depictions of different stories. It was awesome. I felt so studious. Then, I headed over tot he Archeology museum with my class. It was pretty cool. I saw a lot of pots, a couple sculptures. Grandpa would've loved it.
I also climbed the Duomo this day...467 steps later, I was overlooking all of Florence and surrounding regions and mountain ranges. It was gorgeous. The climb was worth it. Plus, it was those eerie, twisting stone steps. Made me feel like I was at Hogwarts, or in Lord of the Rings. Awesome.
I also had a little adventure involving the leather market, a fabulous pair of shoes, and running seven blocks. But, na. i'll keep ya guessing.
OH! Wanna hear something weird?!
I was going out with my friends, and I was just contemplating stopping to pee at a cafe and having Tara distract the barista, when I hear this screaming. And the next thing I know, there are these arms wrapped around me. It was freaking Megan Wasyluk! We start doing that crazy girly screaming thing, the one when you jump up and down. Then, I hear more screaming! And, Brandon comes running over, huge shopping bags in hand. I jumped into his arms, and he swings me around. Ahaha, it was perfect. Then I see Meg, and Lysh come over. It was so weird to see Windsor kids in Italy. And, totally on accident, too. Weird, but awesome.

On the Saturday, I woke up early with Cassidy to get another look at the city. We walked around, and browsed through the leather market. We had breakfast, and boarded the bus. We stopped in this small town, with the most amazing view of the Tuscan country side. San Gimignano. There was the most fantastic art gallery there, with all this modern art. Eughhhh, I was drooling everything was so...so...just so good. Well done. Enticing, even. Mmmmmmmmm. It just makes me smile thinking about it. I have the website somewhere. I'll for sure post it when I find it.
We then stopped in Sienna. It was so awesome there. When I think about "living history" Sienna will be the first on my mind from now on. We saw the area where the horse races are held, this beautiful church (names of these are floating around on a brochure somewhere in the havock of my dorm), and antiquey shops. There was some festival of flags going on, which was cool. People were walkign around dressed up as ringleaders, lions, clowns, etc.

Today is Wednesday, and it's the first full week of school this month. I know, eh? Shocking.
Monday was dull, and so was tuesday. I was so tired from traveling, and I got a little homesick from being trapped on a bus for a total of twelve hours with little to distract me from my thoughts. I (not to be rude) kind of got over it now. But, I still miss everybody.

Today I went out to dinner with Thing One, Carlos, Alanna, Lyle, Cassidy, Lauren, Harrison, and Will. We skipped the marquetta and walked to some chinese restaurant. The food was surprisingly tasty. I had a lot of fun, though.

This blog is sort of all over the place, and chronologically out of order at some points. Mostly because I'm so damned short on time.
Love/miss all of you!

p.s Heather was high on morphine today, due to a health complication (duh)
I normally wouldn't post her private issues on the internet, but I'm hoping that you can all           picture it, using my previous description as a guide

ROME AND SNORKELING THIS WEEKEND!

p.p.s Sorry about grammar/spelling mistakes. Goin' really fast.

So, I may just have to set up a photoalbum on fb, or photobucket for you guys.
I'll let you know when I have tiem to get that all set up.

Let me expand on the birds. they migrate to Africa, or something. so, there's thousands of them in the sky. you could relate the look/feel of them to the bats in "The Dark Night." It sounds eerie, or whatever. but, they give a very unique character to Lanciano.

I went to the beach yesterday. It's rocky, which I'm not used to, but it's not too bad. The water here is fantastic. It's so warm, and wonderful. Not too salty, but keeps ya very buoyant. I think I may come home very brown:)

My roomates:
Chloe: She's an art student here. She's kind of quiet, very polite. But, if you catch her at the right moment, she's hilarious. She's tiny skinny, and rocks an awesome wardrobe. It was her birthday on July 2nd, so we got her a cake, and i made her a card. It was cute.

Jen: She's and english student. She's totally artsy, also. She's quiet, and adorable, and kind of reminds me of a lamb? In a cool way though. Just gentle, and unsuspecting, and kind.

Alexa: This girl is absolutely adorable. She's got the doe eyes, and the most fantastically perfect teeth. Holy canoly. She take english here, too. They're reading the kite runner, which is cool.

Some friends:
Cassidy: I sat next to her on the plane. She sort of resemble Kristen Stewart, only 5 inches shorter. She's got the hair, and the jaw. She's really chill.

DJ: I sat with her on the plane, also. This girl is hilarious. She's crazy athletic, but such a girly girl. I'm talking dresses, makeup, purse, etc. She's so clumsy. It makes my life.

Heather: She's one of those girl that you just can't help but giggle with. She finds humor in everything, and is constantly poking me in the ribs to tell me a joke. I adore her. We're practically the same person.

Alana/Alayna: This girl has thee harshest sense of humor, but you can't help but laugh. She's very go and get it in the sense of catching her next victim. Haha, she's just a funny girl. So outgoing. So hilarious. And, actually, even though the above doesn't exactly give this impression, nice.

Lyle: Oh, Lyle. Lyle is from the Cayman Islands. He's one of the deep artsy type of dudes. He's got tattoos galore, most of which he had designed himself. He's a super talented artist.

I kind of skimmed over my previous blog entries, and the contrast in my writing made me laugh. "Day One" or whichever was actually planned out somewhat. Now my entries are erratic, and random (There's a picture of new york, there's a picture of new york. There's a big fat crazy picture of new york!). I don't know if i was expecting time to write, but I honestly don't have all that much of it. But, I love all of you, and I hope you're having a summer that's as awesome as mine has been.

xx

Day three, dudes.

Fact:
Bears eat beets.

Fun fact:
There's these birds here that apparently don't have any legs? And, so, they have to fly into a wall to land. So, wherever they land they sleep?

Another:
There's invisible mosquitos, too?

Today was cool. I had breakfast and Shardam gave me some new coffee.
I had class again, which is cool. My work load is heavier than i thought, but s'all good.
(can you tell I'm not in the mood to write?)

I'm not in the mood...

Day Two

First day of classes:

Breakfast was good (a.k.a coffee here is awesome, and i'm on a first name basis with the barista).
The school is nice, cool, clean. My teacher (Mrs. I.M) is friendly.
I have no idea what the difference between greek and roman military defense strategies are.
Lunch was good (a.k.a tomatoes at home will never be looked at in a positive light again).

I am so jet-lagged, and I think my throat is closing.
But, this is still awesome.

Love to everyone!

p.s the one luxury i'm missing is a predictable shower.

Day One

I'm gonna work a little medias res on ya:
(we'll see if I get that correct)

I am currently sitting on the ground of a fantastically old building, with fantastically breath-taking views (including fantastically tanned people). I've managed roughly four hours of sleep rolled in a ball, head wrapped in a pashmina, spine curled in a way it definitely should not be. I am delirious. I have eaten an entire bag of sweedish berries within a span of fifteen minutes. I look like a complete mess. My hair is literally thrown in a pony tail that's been slept on and matted down. I still feel great, though.

When I got to the gate, I was a li'l' awkward, as to be expected. So, I sat reading Cole's Notes on the Iliad. Not exactly the most exciting literature. The speaker went, blah, blah. So, I get up to stand in line. But, instead I sit at the closest seats to the check in. THEN! (I was very pleased) Some very nice, very bald man asked me if I was alone and if i wanted to board the plane now. I skipped the entire line. Muahaha! Being charming can feel great.

After roughly 8 hours and 51 minutes of flight we landed. I was staying close to the girls I had sat with on the plane. Deejay, and Cassi. We walked together tot he baggage claim, and this is where I meet Dalia. Dalia. This girl must have checked every single ID on every single black or blue suitcase. She started muttering to me nervously. I swear, this girl is the chattiest of all Cathys I know. She's lebanese, allergic to wheat, prefers small to large dogs, and is really a very nervousanxiousshygirlsomeofthetime. But, she's nice!

The bus ride over was absolutely beautiful (what I caught of it when chatty Cathy wasn't chatting). We got off, ate, and walked. This town is so cliche/stereotypical in terms of old european charm and beauty. Seriously, everything looks old and meaningful. I wish everyone could see this, and I hope that you all one day do. I wouldn't do it justice to try and describe.
(think cobble stone streets, narrow walkways, and alleys upon alleys)

The class had a little bit of an orientation of the school, and of the town. Apparently a miracle happened here? It's just lovely. I mean, c'mon. There's a frickin' rose/swan garden. Yes. A swan garden.

And now, I am sitting here. Exhausted. Jet-lagged. Delirious. But, I feel great.

Ciao, xx
Sophie

P.s (Serena: three Joe Joans look alikes spotted)
P.s.s (Wasy: some kid was wearing a Doodlebop t-shirt in the airport.
It made me think of you. )
